Children develop best in an environment that allows them to interact with other children, make discoveries, solve problems and think independently. With our \u201chands on\u201d approach to learning, students will explore in both large and small group activities. Our focus is to reinforce and build upon previously learned concepts, as well as work on readiness skills needed for Kindergarten. Socialization and manners, science, math, language, fine and gross motor skills and seasonal themes are integrated into the program which is centered on the alphabet and pre-reading skills. Each month your child will be introduced to several letters of the alphabet. During each week the class will experience fun activities that will build their alphabet and number recognition, counting, crayon and scissor skills and color and shape recognition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will be using The Handwriting Without Tears Method to teach with music, multisensory products and child friendly books. Children happily and actively build letters and numbers before they write. This program helps improve fine motor skills, letter formation, spatial awareness and body awareness. It teaches letter formation in a progression that makes the most sense to learners. We also encourage the children to hold and use crayons and scissors properly. These are the early habits that will serve them well next year and beyond. Our goal is to inspire a lifelong love of learning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
